Degrees 'will benefit graduates for their whole lives'
Graduates will find a degree will benefit them throughout their life
While the graduate employment market is a difficult place at the moment, those with a university degree will find it will stand them in good stead in the long run.
That is according to Charlie Ball, deputy director of research at the Higher Education Careers Services Unit, who stated that those who left university in the last recession found it difficult at first but eventually went on to forge successful careers for themselves.
He said that the situation now is very similar to that of the early 1990s but there is light at the end of the tunnel for those with a university education.
"Most of them eventually found themselves thriving and prospering in the employment market and it will be the same for graduates leaving university now. A degree will be a qualification that will last them until the end of their working lives," Mr Ball went on to say.
According to the latest figures from the Office for National Statistics, degree holders earned an average of £12,000 a year more than non-graduates over the past decade.
