Demand for permanent and temporary staff continues to grow
Companies need to be given advice when it comes to hiring apprentices and training, one expert has stated.
Permanent and temporary staff placements continued to rise in December, although the rate of growth slowed when compared to the previous month.
Those are the findings of the KPMG/Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) Report on Jobs, which revealed that the demand for staff remained solid while permanent salaries increased at a faster pace.
Permanent staff vacancies increased at their sharpest rate for four months, while the growth of temporary placements was at its highest for six months.
Kevin Green, chief executive at the REC, said that while the results are positive and is urging the coalition to do more to boost employment prospects.
"We are delighted the government is saying it intends to be pro-business, pro-growth and pro-jobs … addressing the issue of one million young people under 24 not in education or employment is critical for the long-term success of our economy," he added.
Supermarket giant Sainsbury's has announced that it will create 20,000 jobs in the UK over the next three years.
