Employers 'placing more importance on work experience'

People coming to study English in the UK may be more likely to find a job by looking for work experience while they are engaged with their education program.

According to an article in the Irish Echo, employers are increasingly looking to jobs those leaving university have had while they have been in higher education, as this sets them apart from those who only have a degree to show for their time at an institution.

The author of the piece noted that those who have finished their studies are finding it increasingly difficult to find a job in a competitive environment due to a lack of work experience of extra curricular skills.

A recent study carried out by the Higher Education Statistics agency found 20,000 graduates were still looking for employment half a year after completing their studies last year, the news source observed.

Those looking to gain a placement within the engineering industry may find they have a better chance to do so following the news a new medical centre is being constructed in Dublin, which will create 300 new jobs.
