Foundation degrees could be chosen by people considering university entry in the UK

A foundation degree may be one option considered by people studying in the UK

Foreign students considering university entry in the UK may decide to study towards a foundation degree as an alternative to a traditional course.

Craig Abrahart, operating director at notgoingtouni.co.uk, observed that over 100 employers now offer the courses and they provide a great opportunity for an individual to gain practical experience with an employer as well as academic qualifications.

"The benefit we like of the foundation degrees is that … they can actually go on to top it up to a full honours degree at less cost," he noted.

Mr Abrahart added that his organisation is behind apprenticeship and foundation degree routes into the workplace and has seen a rise in the number of people contacting the website who are looking into them.

Hic comments come after McDonald's recently revealed that it is launching a foundation degree course in Managing Business Operations, as part of a prospectus which outlines the full range of qualifications its staff can gain access to.
