Luxury carmaker Jaguar Land Rover has revealed that more than £2 billion worth of supply contracts will go to 40 companies, which will see the creation of thousands of UK jobs.
The firm said that the Evoque model will be manufactured at the Halewood plant in Merseyside, with 1,500 new recruits to be brought in to deliver the production.
Business secretary Vince Cable said that the move is a positive one and demonstrates that the UK automotive supply chain is capable of securing major deals and expanding going forward.
Dr Ralf Speth, chief executive of the company, said that it is further evidence of Jaguar Land Rover's importance to the UK economy.
"Alongside the 1,500 new jobs created at Halewood to support the launch of the new Evoque, Jaguar Land Rover is investing in advanced research, design and technical innovation with key strategic partners," he added.
The Evoque is due for release in the summer and will be sold in over 160 countries.
