Students coming to study in the UK may find they have more opportunities to do work experience alongside their engineering degree following an announcement that a new health facility is to be built in Dublin.
Highfield Hospital Group revealed it will be constructing the establishment alongside the existing care centre in Whitehall, Swords.
A total of 300 jobs are to be created as a result of the €300 million (£251 million) project, which will provide 100 mental health beds.
In addition, a ten-bed unit for acute psychiatric care and 90 nursing home beds will be available, with construction on the building set to start immediately.
The facility is due to be finished with 18 months, meaning the centre will be providing care from the middle of 2012.
Meanwhile, technology students may discover they have a better chance of securing work experience within the industry after Sony announced it is taking on 50 new staff at its factory in Pencoed, Bridgend.
