Online recruitment rises, research shows
There is help available for job seekers
A strong recovery in the construction and manufacturing sectors has contributed to a rise in online recruitment, new research has found.
The Monster employment index rose by nine per cent last month to reach its highest point since the end of 2008.
According to the company, it shows the picture for jobseekers is becoming rosier, with manufacturing, construction, transport, post and logistics firms increasing staff numbers.
The index did record a fall in public sector hiring as a result of spending cuts.
Monster spokesperson Isabelle Ratinaud said that those looking for employment should be buoyed by the results but urged caution.
"Candidates must also remember that high levels of unemployment mean competition is strong so they must continue to go the extra mile in applications and interviews to stand out from the crowd," she added.
Maggie Berry, managing director of womenintechnology.co.uk, said recently that the number of IT jobs is likely to increase this year.
