School pupils 'attracted to apprenticeships'
Apprenticeships are one option for school leavers
With GCSE results recently received by the nation's 16-year-olds, many are exploring the options available to them, with apprenticeships appealing to a couple of young people in Melton.
The Melton Times reports that Sam Haines and 18-year-old Zoe Ainge are both looking at what apprenticeship opportunities could give them.
After attending a special Apprenticeship Day organised by Connexions in the Leicestershire town, the duo said that apprenticeships appeal in several ways.
"I am looking at any jobs really but apprenticeships definitely appeal to me because you can earn while you learn," claimed 16-year-old Sam.
Ms Ainge went on to tell the news provider that she is keeping all options on the table but is interested in art and media apprenticeship opportunities.
Denise Taylor, career psychologist with amazingpeople.co.uk, said recently that businesses are very much in favour of apprenticeships, as they give young people the skills they are going to need for the rest of their working lives.
