Studying a TEFL course and working in the classroom as an English teacher demonstrates certain skills which employers will value, it has been claimed.
Sarah Clover, communications director at notgoingtouni.com, said that one of the key benefits of following this path is that it inevitably leads to travel and work experience in a foreign country, which helps people develop on many different levels.
She pointed to a survey by Edge Foundation which revealed that 68 per cent of bosses believe the jobs market is littered with people who lack essential practical skills.
"A TEFL course allows people to get hands-on experience in the world of work, which immediately puts you ahead of those who choose a purely academic route," Ms Clover added.
Brandon Spence, writing for SummitDaily.com, said that he decided to do a TEFL and explore the world because many of his friends took this route and have enjoyed every minute of it.
