Participants from 10 European countries attended a Transversal Study Visit in Romania last week.
The European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training (CEDEFOP) funded representatives from the UK, Italy, Switzerland, Poland, Bulgaria, Spain, Portugal, Lithuania, Turkey and Germany to take part in an event titled: ‘Managing Career Development in a Multicultural Society’.
Joy Garner, Business Development Manager for Twin Group, was among the UK representatives attending the Transversal Study Visit.
The content of the event was centred around comparisons of the different teacher training regimes across European member states, with a focus on accommodating multicultural groups in society to enable effective learning.
The delegation was taken to 6 schools in Mures County, Transylvania, Romania, after the main event at the Tirgu Mures Teacher Training Centre.
The schools offer both academic and vocational education routes to pupils and conducts lessons in a number of languages to accommodate the diverse local population which includes Romanian, Hungarian, German and Roma citizens.
Mrs Garner said of the visit: ““This trip increased my knowledge of multicultural education as well as allowing me to sample the hospitality of local people in this very beautiful part of Europe, which values its diversity and the different traditions of people living there.”
