Wales unveils new youth unemployment action plan
Young people will be helped by the new scheme
The Welsh Assembly government has unveiled a new four-year strategy designed to help those aged between 16 and 24 find employment or re-enter the education system.
Dubbed the Youth Engagement and Employment Action Plan, the scheme will involve prioritise the skills valued by employers, thereby improving the job prospects of young people, WalesOnline.co.uk reports.
Education minister Leighton Andrews said that the current economic climate can have a severe effect on those in this demographic and stated that it is crucial they are given all the opportunities for success they require.
"We therefore need to provide young people with opportunities to gain suitable skills to progress into sustainable employment," he added.
The Assembly government also announced recently that £4.9 million will be invested in a new Centre of Excellence in Mobile Applications and Services, which will focus on the testing and development of smartphone technology, which could possibly create more jobs in the country.
