Britons look set to benefit from a growing number of job employment prospects as a result of the government's Green Deal, according to secretary for energy and climate change Chris Huhne.
The project, worth some £7 billion, aims to improve the energy efficiency of homes and small businesses across Britain by supplying up-front funds to implement measures such as insulation.
Households then pay back the finance over time with money saved on fuel bills.
And the scheme could have a huge effect on employment in the UK, Mr Huhne stated at the Liberal Democrat Autumn Conference, which got underway in Liverpool on Saturday (September 18th) and came to a close yesterday.
"The Green Deal could also create a whole new industry that will help offset the drag anchor of the budget squeeze," he said.
If all 26 million homes get involved in the initiative, some 250,000 jobs may be established, the politician added.
