The Equality Act will lead to greater clarity and transparency in the workplace, resulting in the secrecy that formerly existed between employers and their staff "becoming indicative of a bygone era", an expert has observed.
Phil Flaxton, chief executive of Work Wise UK, noted improvements in terms of pay help within employment should ensure workers are being given a fair wage.
"Fundamentally, it should lead to greater clarity [and] transparency, which in a modern society should be welcomed," he said.
Mr Flaxton added a move towards openness and fairness ought to be embraced because of the period of austerity our society is currently experiencing.
He dispelled the notion the workplace will become a utopia because of the Act, but regarded a move allowing colleagues to know what their co-workers earn as a positive one.
This follows research conducted by the Chartered Management Institute and XpertHR, which revealed female junior executives receive, on average, a salary £1,065 lower than that of their male counterparts.
