The employment environment in Britain is currently a difficult one for a lot of individuals but there are job opportunities for those with relevant skills and experience, it has been noted.
Martin Bamford, chartered financial planner at Informed Choice, said a person's chances of securing a role also depend on the region they live in.
"Any government initiative to help people get back into work and try to find work [is] always helpful," he added.
Mr Bamford warned the expected public sector cuts could add to the UK unemployment problem in the short term, but stated the resulting job losses are necessary due to the current state of the country.
He observed long-term unemployment could have a dramatic effect on people's finances and therefore encouraged those who have been without a profession for a short time to think ahead.
The work and pensions secretary Iain Duncan Smith announced a new Enterprise Allowance scheme yesterday (October 6th), which is designed to give those out of work an incentive to become self-employed by offering to pay them a weekly wage for up to six months, based on the amount they currently receive in benefits.
