Labour market conditions in Scotland improved last month, new research has shown.
According to the Bank of Scotland jobs report, January saw more candidates given roles and a rise in salaries as well.
The barometer used to measure the market was at 53.2 last month, compared to 52.6 in December 2010.
January's reading was the highest since April and Donald McRae, chief economist at the Bank of Scotland, said that while the results are positive, there is still more work to do.
"The Scottish labour market saw a welcome improvement for the third consecutive month, however further improvement is needed before we can be sure that job growth in the private sector will offset future public sector cuts," he added.
Unemployment in Scotland bucked the UK-wide trend last month when data from the Office for National Statistics showed that the figure fell by 13,000, with a rise in part-time appointments given as a chief reason for the move.
