Those who gain work experience before heading into the construction sector for employment will be in a positive position, it has been said.
Paul McBurney, project manager at Graham Construction, which has just announced that it has taken ten students onto its work experience scheme, suggested that such initiatives are always worthwhile.
According to the Sctosman, the Constructionarium scheme will see students at Strathclyde University gain on-site experience on the £37 million refurbishment of the Royal Commonwealth Pool.
"Anything which helps young engineers gain new skills and experience before coming into the industry is a good thing and Constructionarium is a fantastic scheme," he explained.
Mr McBurney added that experience of the site will give them knowledge about quality, costs and time pressures involved in the work.
The Belfast Telegraph recently reported that Springvale Learning invested £120,000 in a derelict property which it hopes will give youngsters the chance to gain work experience through renovation of the building.
