One organisation is looking to training to make Britain's buildings more energy efficient.
According to the UK Green Building Council (UK-GBC), it has launched a new industry-led initiative called the Sustainability Training and Education Programme (Step), in conjunction with the College of Estate Management.
The body states the scheme aims to expand knowledge across the construction and property sector, helping people better understand sustainability.
Commenting on the news, chief executive of the UK-GBC Paul King said: "The construction and property sector has a massive impact on the UK's carbon emissions and use of natural resources. We must get to grips with this, despite the economic climate."
Step follows the industry's calls for the organisation to get involved in education and training after data showed the majority of existing training courses on green issues to be inadequate.
The UK-GBC was formed in February 2007 and aims to "dramatically" improve the sustainability of the built environment.
