Traditional office hours are unlikely to change in the near future, according to one employment organisation.
Stephen Overell, associate director of the Work Foundation, argues the nine-to-five week will not be replaced by flexible working or out-of-hours professional activity, despite the claims of some experts.
He suggests there is "an awful long way to go" before the concept of "normal" workings hours is erased, observing the introduction of technology such as smartphones has gone some way to introducing flexible working to the masses.
However, the suggestion of Work Wise UK that traditional office hours are "a thing of the past" is "a step too far", according to Mr Overell, saying those who work flexibly still represent a small section of the population.
A recent report from Work Wise UK claimed nine-to-five weeks will soon be a thing of the past, with Britons increasingly putting in long hours and finding more ways to balance professional and private life.
