Paddy Power, the Irish Bookmaker, is set to create 1,440 new jobs in the UK, Ireland and Australia by 2013.
Batt O'Keefe, Irish minister for enterprise, trade and innovation, said the announcement means the company's workforce in Ireland would increase to over 2,200.
He stated that the government's main objective is the creation and protection of jobs and will continue to produce policies that allow innovative firms to generate work opportunities.
Chief executive of Paddy Power Patrick Kennedy stated the business's homegrown expertise had already allowed them to enter the UK and Australia.
"We operate in highly competitive markets and it is essential that we remain competitive here out of Ireland in order to continue to expand this business and create more jobs," he added.
Founded in 1988, the bookmaker claims to be Ireland's most successful and biggest betting agency and states its mission is to make risk-based entertainment more fun and accessible.
