The supermarket giant Asda plans to create an extra 7,500 jobs in 2011, with 3,000 additional vacancies already available on its website, it has been noted.
New roles will be offered as the company plans to expand its home shopping service, open new stores.
Chief executive of the retailer Andy Clark stated: "I'm proud to say next year we will once again create thousands of new jobs at every level of our growing business."
In addition to the positions of employment, Asda announced it was committed to continuing to offer young people work experience or that chance to join the business.
Earlier this year, the chain said it would create 10,000 seasonal jobs and 15,000 retail apprenticeships for 14 to 16 year olds.
Irish Bookmaker Paddy Power announced this week that it will offer 1,440 new employment positions in the UK, Ireland and Australia by 2013, increasing its workforce to over 2,200.
