The prime minister David Cameron has met with major employers at Downing Street today (Monday) and painted a buoyant picture for private sector employment in the coming years.
Mr Cameron met with bosses from companies including Microsoft, Asda and Balfour Beatty and claimed that thousands of jobs will be created this year and beyond.
The meeting highlighted the underlying strength of the UK economy and the prime minister stated that it is crucial to create a climate where the private sector is allowed to flourish.
"Across a whole range of areas you're going to see the most pro-business, pro-growth, pro-jobs agenda ever unleashed by a government," Mr Cameron said.
He added that there will be a focus on developing the skills and jobs needed to maintain Britain's strong economy and secure future growth.
Mr Cameron recently commissioned a body to produce an enterprise plan to stimulate economic growth in Liverpool.
