Overseas visitors to Britain spent 227 million nights in the country last year, according to a new report released by VisitBritain.
The survey from VisitBritain, the UK’s national tourism agency, also looked at the percentage of visitors who were staying in each region of the UK.
Other metrics in the data include details of accommodation usage by region and the proportion of visitors from each overseas territory per UK region.
VisitBritain noted that the following should be born in mind when looking at the data: “Visitors who spend at least one night in the UK during their trip are asked where they stayed. This information can then be aggregated to look at the number of visits, nights, and spending in different regions, cities, and towns.”
Dee Corley, Director of Twin Group Travel commented on the data: “This report from VisitBritain gives inbound travel companies in the UK a great insight into what overseas visitors want to see and the kind of accommodation they want for their stay. Using these figures will help us to fine-tune the products we offer to our customers.”
